Greet our characters: Topeka’s Living The Dream Founder Inc. Remember for selflessness and activism in the community in their last days – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (Wibw) – This week we congratulate a well -known leader in our community, which we unfortunately learned that he died on Monday afternoon.

Robert Bug remembers with his service, activism and most importantly a favorite father.

“It was never about him, but about us,” says Anton Bug.

The capital has been a long way thanks to Trailblazers like Robert Bug.

“I always say that he was the most fascum and selfless person I have ever met. To make someone who made, the awards he received doesn’t matter. That’s exactly what he could do for others, “says Bug.

While Robert Bug spent a lot of time resting in his last days, his son Anton worshiped these moments together, ending a busy life.

Robert and the late Jackie Bug found Living the Dream Inc.

“He gathered a group from all over Topeka, a diverse group of people and formed the first committee” Lives Dreams “in 1985.

Today, the organization is a symbol of the hope of many, deeply rooted in the philosophy of Dr. King.

“If they were the dynamic duet, she was definitely Robin. I will say that it was the rock. She kept things together. But I always say that my mother was a disciplinary, so she kept everything in order, “says Bug.

Bug occupied the best positions in the capital, working as a police officer, becoming the State Department of the Director of Motor Vehicles and chairman of the Black Democratic Caucotus of Kansas.

But he came from a modest basis.

“He was from a 13 family, so most of them would join the military to escape poverty, so he went to Germany,” says Bug.

Building connections around the world in his travels.

“It just happened that he was in the same company and answered the same sergeant as Elvis Presley. He said he sees Elvis Presley every day and they will talk and Elvis will invite him to parties and all that, “Bug recalls.

The youngest of three Anton Bug says he will remember his father most, that he is just a dad.

“I believe that when I was two years old, he told me that your word was your connection. His favorite book was “like a man thinking,” so he always read books that were connected to the mind, “says Bug.

“He was just a dad for me, but no matter where I went to town, he was famous, but for me he was my father,” says Bug.

Anton heritage says he is proud to continue.

“Heritage is exactly what they did for the community. This event started with nothing and now we are giving over a million dollars of scholarships. So I hope to continue this for another 40 years plus, betray it and let it continue to grow, “says Bug.

Robert Bug died in the afternoon on Monday, January 27th. He was 83 years old.

Instead of flowers and cards, the family wants to make Dream Inc. life donations.
