The 2024-25 NBA season is fast approaching and teams are gearing up for an exciting year of basketball. As usual, analysts and former players share their predictions for the best stars and duos in the league. Recently former NBA player and Dallas Mavericks standout Chandler Parsons impacted the Mavs’ offensive pairing Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Appearing on the Run it Back show this week, Parsons made a bold statement by calling Doncic and Irving the greatest backcourt duo in NBA history. He praised the pair and hoped his former team would make a big impact this season.
“@luka7doncic and @KyrieIrving is perhaps the greatest backcourt duo in basketball history.” – @ChandlerParsons
Do you agree with Chandler? If the NBA’s best backcourt isn’t the Dallas Mavericks’ 1 and 2, then who is? 🤔

Parsons’ claim is controversial, however, as many have differing opinions on what constitutes “the greatest backcourt in NBA history.” On the other hand, Parsons, a nine-year NBA veteran, played for the Dallas Mavericks from 2014 to 2016 and has experience alongside top-level players, including an NBA MVP James Harden. Whether his opinion of Doncic and Irving is true remains to be seen in the upcoming season.
The Mavs’ new signing made a bold statement regarding teammates Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving
The Dallas Mavericks signed the four-time champion and former Golden State Warriors legend Klay Thompson via 2024 NBA Free Agency. In one of the league’s biggest offseason additions, he joined Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, a fantastic backcourt duo.
Thomspon was full of praise for his new teammates and was very vocal about the two stars, saying he’s looking forward to sharing the court with them in the 2024-25 NBA season.
“Luke [Doncic] is one of the best players in the world when the ball is in his hands… He’s going to generate a lot of great looks for me. It was a nightmare trying to guard him and Kyrie [Irving].”

Doncic and Irving have similar feelings about their newest teammate. The four-time NBA champion can’t wait to play with both talents.
Doncic also boldly stated that the Mavs are aiming for an NBA championship after Thompson’s arrival to the team. It remains to be seen how the three will perform together in the 2024-25 NBA season.
