Governor Kelly issues the state of disaster emergency proclamation for winter storms – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – Governor Laura Kelly has issued a verbal state of emergency disaster at 8:00 Sunday due to the predicted winter time to influence the state starting on Monday.

This declaration allows us to use resources to provide state aid, more special refusal from hours of service to proplies of proposal.

Two rounds of snow are expected, one Monday on Tuesday and the other Wednesday on Thursday.

“Kansani are challenged by winter storms this year,” said governor Laura Kelly. “The key to welcoming these challenges is to be prepared. Home emergency kit should include a radio for battery, flashlight and extra batteries, additional blankets, warm clothing, durable food, high-energy snacks and drinking water-at one gallon per day for a minimum of three days.

Avoid traveling if possible. If you need to travel, inform someone about your travel plans and make sure your car has a full gas tank during extreme cold situations so you can stay warm if you get stuck. Make sure that mobile phones are loaded and make sure that your car’s emergency kit is up -to -date.
