Former Labor leader said digital identification should be implemented to help the United Kingdom solve migration problems and other problems facing the country.
Sir Tony, who is said to have never had a mobile phone while PM, has since become an ardent supporter of using the technology to improve the efficiency of the state.
Sir Kyar Starmer, the first leader of the Labor after Sir Tony to win a common election, has promised to accept the technology and turn Britain into AI Superpiece.
It is believed that the brain reservoir of its predecessor, the Institute for Global Changes in Tony Blair, is considered an influence on the government.
“You have to rearrange the government around this technological revolution,” Sir Tony told the Times.
He added: “You must be able to have a condition that is less, more strategic and provide more efficiency at a lower price. This is the Holy Grail of Government, which people have always strived for. The technology is the tool that allows you to do it. “
Sir Keyer also has to “make a firm decision that we will go for digital ID,” the former PM said.
Ministers are already launching a digital portfolio, which will allow people to store driving licenses and other forms of ID on their smartphones.
Science Secretary Peter Kyle said that “nothing is out of the table” in terms of what can be stored in the new application, which starts the digital versions of government documents, which starts in June.
But Sir Tony said that ministers should continue further, saying that the government should be prepared for a “big debate coming down the line” for the future of Digital ID.
He added: “This is the political argument that people should have – who is: How much confidentity are you ready to trade for efficiency? This is the real question about technology and public services.
“My opinion is that people are actually ready to trade a lot.”
Digital ID apps may be the processing of “the huge flow of people coming through our borders,” said Sir Tony.
He added that identifying people for medical treatment and discovering whether migrants “have no right to be here” to prevent them from claiming that the benefits are among the things it can be used for.
“He sends a signal that there is no point in thinking that you will come here and you will disappear as a gray economy,” he told The Times.
Attracting digital identification numbers will help ministers become difficult for populism, he suggested too.
“It will also throw many people who want to talk about problems such as immigration or fraud with benefit, but in fact they will not have the means to reach the end,” said Sir Tony.
