Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, arrived in Greensboro Wednesday afternoon, stepping off a plane at Piedmont Triad International Airport around 3 p.m.
He was met at the track by U.S. Representative Kathy Manning, North Carolina Senators Gladys Robinson and Michael Garrett, North Carolina Representative Amos Quick and Guilford County Commission Karlvena Foster.
The campaign describes the event as one where supporters will knock on doors in the community.
Walz’s appearance in Greensboro is one of three he is expected to make in North Carolina on Wednesday, with stops in Charlotte and Asheville also planned.
The Minnesota governor isn’t the only major candidate campaigning in North Carolina on Wednesday.
Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, was scheduled to visit Raleigh, while Republican nominee and former president Donald Trump planned to rally supporters in Rocky Mount.
North Carolina has long been considered one of the seven major swing states that could decide the election.
Polls throughout the campaign season have shown a tight race in the state. Harris and Trump are in a dead heat in North Carolina with less than a week until Election Day, according to the latest Elon poll released Tuesday.
Candidates from both campaigns have made frequent stops in the Triad throughout the campaign season in their bids to win the state.
Harris headlined a rally at First Horizon Coliseum in September, while Walz spoke to supporters in Winston-Salem earlier this month. Former President Donald Trump held his own rally at the Coliseum’s Special Events Center last week, while Republican vice presidential candidate and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance made a town hall appearance at the Koury Convention Center a few weeks ago.
