Goop Bill seems to require classrooms in Wisconsin to show us the US motto "We trust in God" – Fox11online.com

(Wluk) – “In God we trust” is the motto of the nation since 1956.

You can find it on dollar bills and a free change.

Now the Republicans in Wisconsin’s legislation want to appear in the public classrooms of the K-12.

State representative Joy Göben, R-Hobart said, “It’s about patriotism, sharing our story. It’s good, it’s good for our children to know these things.”

Göben is the co -author of the bill.

This will also require the classrooms of charter schools to show the motto, along with all kinds of public buildings.

“The patriotism where did we come from? What kind of things did we overcome to get to where we are now. I think this could be expressed as I have, I think again, this is a conversation. Let’s talk about our story, why we We do this to our dollars bills, “Göben said.

The motto can be shown in the form of a poster, in a frame of document or inscribed on a wall.

Groups such as Freedom from Religion Foundation believe that efforts like this violate the first amendment.

“If these legislators wanted to be patriotic, they would return to the original motto, E Pluribus Unum,” said Ani Lori Gailer, co -founder and co -chair of the Freedom of Religion Foundation. “It is obvious, an attempt to force religion on all, especially the most impressive, which is the captive audience of the children from public schools,” she added.

In 2018, the Federal Court ruled that the motto did not violate the Constitution.

However, opponents believe that legislators have no right to try to force classrooms to show the motto.

“We live under the ungodly constitution. There is no God or religion or 10 commandments in our constitution of the United States. It gives sovereignty not to a deity, but to people,” Gailer said.

Other countries have a similar law, including Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina and Louisiana.
