The Golden State Warriors have over 600 players wearing more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the era of the Basketball Association of America (BAA – the predecessor league to the NBA), the team has called the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland and even San Diego home.
To commemorate the players who have worn these numbers, Warriors Wire covers the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who have worn them since the team’s inception. For this article, we begin with the first of the nine players who have worn the Warriors’ No. 0 jersey.
That player would be none other than Agent 0 himself (as he was often called), Warriors point guard Gilbert Arenas.
After finishing his NCAA career with Arizona, Arenas was drafted 31st overall in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Dubs, where the Tampa, Florida native would spend the first two seasons of his career.
That stint would end with him leaving in free agency to join the Washington Wizards in 2003. Wearing only the No. 0 jersey with the team, while Arenas averaged 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1, 5 steals per game for the Warriors.
