The Veterans Community project is expected to be completed in May 2026.

Glendale, Ariz. – The city of Glendale has broken into a transitional residential community for veterans who are experiencing homelessness.

The Veterans Community project will be based near Grand and Northern Avenues.

“Today is the will that this community has gathered and said we are not well with veterans from homeless,” said the co -founder of the Community veterans project Brian Mayer. “This community has the back of their veterans. It means more than you ever know. “

The village will consist of 50 homes of nearly eight acres. Each home will be fully furnished and is designed with the needs of veterans.

Transitional housing will offer personalized support, including health and well -being, education, employment and financial literacy.

“I am a 28-year-old veteran of the army, a fifth-generation army veteran. I have had many friends to commit suicide and I am here to tell you that this will prevent suicide, “said former VFW chief commander Tim Borland.” We will download these numbers, because this community is only we will give them a connection with other families and will give them a good start. “

This village will be the first of its kind to Arizona, but five other cities in the United States have already adopted the program.

Glendale Mayor Jerry Weer is heading the veterans community project in his city with over $ 10 million in funding from the city, district and state to support it.

“The veterans are so important in our community and risk their lives for our country, and so the least we can do is invest our money to help them when they need them,” said Maricopa County Debbie Lesco County.

The project is expected to be completed in May 2026.
