Wilmington – George Martino George, 82 years old, from Wilmington, North Carolina, died on Friday, February 14, 2025, after a period of decreasing health.

Georgian was born on October 11, 1942 in Ravenna, Ohio of the late George and Edith Argante Martino. After her marriage to Arthur Fredrick George, she enjoyed life as a host, making her home warm and welcoming for both her family and her friends. Two years ago, George and her husband Fred moved to Wilmington, North Carolina from North Myrtle Beach, SC, where they lived for 18 years to be close to their daughter, Christine and her family.

While living in Wilmington, George became a member of the Baptist Church of Myrtle Grove. Her interests were varied. She liked to knit a hook, made hundreds of blankets for both the family and for the people who were sick, enjoyed all kinds of card games, and loved to play Majong.

Georgian and Fred, her husband and the best friend of 50, loved to travel, with Italy being her favorite place to visit. Georgian was a Christian woman and never had a raw word for anyone. She was caring and compassionate about anyone she met. Georgian made friends easily and was known to illuminate a room with his presence. She loved her grandchildren and they were her heart. The most important thing is that Georgian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and she was a friend of everyone. She was dearly loved and would be very missed.

Her husband Arthur Fredrick George survived; One daughter, Christine Marie Leighton (Brandon) from Wilmington, North Carolina; Five grandchildren: Harper and Georgia Leighton and George, Davis and Abby Taliafero; One brother, John Martino (Deborah) from Ravenna, Ohio; One sister, Deborah Lambright (Dennis) by Columbus, Ohio; A step -daughter, Michel Taliafero (Chip) from Lisburg, Virginia and a number of nephews, nephews and extended family members.

Georgian’s life will be announced soon.

Instead of flowers, the monuments can be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
