Charleston, SC (WCSC) – South Carolina drivers are at the end of a little relief this week, as gas prices have dropped in the state, although the same cannot be said for the nation.
The average price of gasoline in South Carolina decreased by 5 cents per gallon for an average of $ 2.77 a gallon, according to a Gasbuddy survey at over 3000 stations in the state.
These prices are 6.3 cents per gallon more than a month ago and 23.5 cents per gallon than a year ago.
The cheapest gas gallon in the whole country was $ 2.41, while the most expensive $ 3.29.
At Lowcountry, Murphy USA, located on 3969 West Ashley Circle in Charleston, had the lowest gas price on Monday morning, located at $ 2.63 a gallon.

“The average value of the country has increased higher, governed mainly by a sharp increase in gas prices on the west coast, where the maintenance and interruptions of the refinery have created the pulsation effect in neighboring countries, pushing prices higher in many communities, Patrick de Haan, the head of the oil analysis at Gasbuddy said.
“While the bigger part of the country has experienced a relatively quiet week for gas prices, the west coast is observing a rapid increase – a trend that must be delayed in the coming days. Although the jump remains isolated in the west so far, the maintenance of the refinery will soon begin in other regions and with the transition to summer gasoline mixtures underway, prices in most areas are likely to begin to increase in the coming weeks, “de Haan said. “Meanwhile, oil prices remain muted during the low 70s, as President Trump is working on a potential peaceful deal between Russia and Ukraine – an event that, if realized, can have significant consequences for the oil markets in the coming months.”
The average price of the gas country has increased by 2.2 cents in the last week for an average of $ 3.11 per gallon.
This is the same as a month ago and 16.5 cents per gallon more than a year ago.
The price of the diesel dropped by less than one hundred, 0.8 cents per gallon to be accurate. This leaves the average price of $ 3.632 per gallon.
