GAVIN VAN KEMPEN, selected for the NCBWA Monitoring Observation List for 2025 – Sports Illustrated

The right -wing pitcher of the University of Western Virginia Gavin Van Kemppen was nominated on the NCBWA Presidential Observations list for NCBWA in 2025 on Wednesday.

The award is awarded to the best pitcher in the NCAA Division I baseball.

Van Kemppen was 7-1 last season with 3.14 ERA and 35 penalties before receiving an injury at the end of the season before the last month of the regular season. In his last four outings last season, he threw 10.2 to no avail passes with 13 penalties.

In his career with the mountaineers, born in Castel, New York, is 10-1 with 4.09 ERA and 56 penalties in 55.0 passes to the mound.

Van Kemppen was also selected in the third team of All-America NCBWA All-America.
