Garlands raise a glass to 26 years – The Citizen

The Garland Ladies Luncheon Club recently celebrated 26 years of dancing to their own music.

For more than two decades, the social club has become a monthly meeting place for like-minded women to share life’s small victories while enjoying the quirks of each individual.

Dressed in rich spring florals, club president Margie Kostelac announced that she would be at the helm of the organization for the second year in a row.

“What an honor to be a part of a club that brings vibrant and dynamic women together every month,” she said.

Club president Margie Kostelac hopes to spark new interest in the club.

“We laughed and we cried, but most importantly, we created deep friendships that will stand the test of time.”

The spicy president continued by urging club members and visitors to encourage younger women to become active Ladies of Garland in an effort to ensure the longevity of the organization.

“Sometimes it can feel like life is passing us by and if we don’t pay attention, we can become isolated.

By taking time to sit and relax with friends, trials and tribulations become easier to navigate.”

As the wind whipped outside the Katse room in Ebotse, Boksburg-based music therapist Nsamu Munga commanded the attention of the lively women with his mesmerizing voice.

The charismatic Nsamu Moonga was taken aback by the vocal talents of the Garlands ladies.

“Music is a universal language. Regardless of your upbringing, culture or mood, if I have to sing a classical tune, your body will sway and without invitation you can sing or hum,” said the charismatic singer.

“Whatever we do, wherever we go, we create tempo through our steps or speech. But when we listen to the song in our hearts, that’s when we start writing our own lyrics.”

Drumming to the beat of his songs, the ladies of Garland couldn’t help but burst into song as well, ushering in hopes for another positive year of growth.
