According to police, the 18-year-old was thrown out of his vehicle during the crash.
Garland, Texas-Police Department in Garland said he was investigating a crash in which he killed an 18-year-old man on February 21st.
According to police, officers responded at the intersection of Garland Avenue and Stratford Drive shortly before 10:30 pm at the report on a major accident involving two vehicles.
Police said that after employees arrived, they found that one of the residents had been thrown out of their vehicle during the crash and died of their injuries. Later, the medical examination of the Dallas County described that person as 18-year-old Eric Lopez Guerrero.
According to Garland PD, early discoveries show that one vehicle was driving east on Stratford Drive while the other headed south on Garland Avenue. When a vehicle traveling on Stratford entered Garland Avenue, it was struck by the other, police said.
Garland PD said both vehicles carry three people. The five who survived the crash were taken to a local hospital. Police said their age ranges from 16 to 22 years. Details of any additional injuries were not immediately clear.
According to Garland PD, investigators have found evidence of alcohol, however, the investigation is ongoing and detectives are working to determine the cause of the crash and whether the damage has played a role or not.
