Much of the time of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland were darkened by constant trade rumors, especially last year before Mitchell signed an extension with Cleveland Cavaliers.
Now the two are flourishing together and constitutes perhaps the best back in the NBA, silencing all the talk of their separation. Garland opened up to what it is like to hear his names and Mitchell in trade rumors, saying that they need to work to understand how to complement each other.
“Talks, bro. These are some conversations for an adult man who have been taken,” Garland told Clutch Points’ Tomer Azarly. “And we’re just watching a lot of movie together. Trying to find out where we can help each other on the court, trying to find different spots where we can both be aggressive. I want to say that I just turned from the last pair of years , in which people say we cannot play together.
Mitchell puts 23.9 points, 4.8 assists and 4.4 fights per game, while Garland, who just made his second All-Star game, an average of 21.6 points and 6.7 assists per match.
Behind Mitchell and Garland, Cavs sit comfortably at the driver’s seat at the Eastern Conference. At 44-10, Cleveland has the best record in the east and is bound by Oklahoma City Thunder for Best Record in the NBA.
This time last year it seemed that Mitchell and Garland’s time together could be short. Now they are just starting.
