Tracey Howe has been touring the entire coast of Great Britain following the sad passing of her partner Angela White, who died of blood cancer last year aged 58.
The 60-year-old is aiming to raise £100,000 for Beatson Cancer Charity, Marie Curie, Brainstrust, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel.
Tracey left Beatson in Glasgow on Friday and is due to arrive in Ayrshire on Sunday.
She will run from Wemyss Bay to Largs on Sunday, Largs to Kilwinning on Monday and Kilwinning to Ayr on Tuesday.
Tracey will have a day off in Ayr on Wednesday before continuing her journey from Ayr to Girvan on Thursday and Girvan to Ballantrae on Friday.
It will continue through Dumfries and Galloway before crossing the border at Gretna.
The retired professor plans to cover about 20 miles each day, walking six days a week, to complete a counter-clockwise circuit of the continent.
Tracey said: “Angela left a terrible hole in my life when she died last September, aged just 58, but I want to turn my grief into something positive.
“The long walk I have called the Tracy Trek will be the hardest thing I have ever done.
“It will be tough mentally and physically, but I think Angela will be proud of me.
“I’m doing it for her and also to raise as much money as possible for charities close to my heart.”
