SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Teens and adults in the disability community gathered Saturday night at Mosaic in downtown Sioux Falls for fun and a Friends Winter Ball.
The event was free to attend and guests enjoyed music, food, refreshments and photo opportunities.
It was held from 6 to 9 p.m., and the organization’s leaders said it was made possible by donations they received on Giving Tuesday in December and from event sponsor Glacial Lakes Capital.
“I am the mother of a young child with Down syndrome. And I’ve really loved seeing our older families with children with disabilities grow and show me what I can look forward to both personally and profitably. Often when I get a chance to sit down and talk with parents, we talk about where they volunteer, where they work, how they socialize, how they live independently. And that gives me so much hope and excitement for our future,” said Nadene Fishback with Fun and Friends.
The mission of Fun and Friends is to strengthen the disability community in Sioux Falls through social programming for both families of a child with a disability and the disabled themselves.
