Florida’s men’s basketball is looking for a new chief trainer after Leonard Hamilton announced on Monday that he would resign at the end of the season.

For the first time in more than two decades of Seminoles, the Seminoles Basketball Program will be looking for a new chief coach with Hamilton, which has been in charge since 2002, he holds a record 434-290 as a seminoles chief trainer and ranks in the top 10 in all times he wins among the active coaches S

Currently, Seminoles are a total of 13-9 and 4-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The FSU is a losing series of four games after collapsing at the last minute against Boston College, allowing eight points in the last minute of the game to hand over to the “eagles” the victory.

Through Hamilton’s 33-year coaching career, he has developed superstars from the NBA and College, along with a number of current coaches.

As basketball and athletics at college continue to develop with the infusion of NIL, the transfer portal and continuing transition to the professionalization of amateur sport, FSU needs someone capable of navigating it.

The coaching tree and Hamilton’s ties are obvious throughout the basketball and this can be a factor in who came to replace it.

In which direction is Seminoles, especially after the immediate message of Hamilton’s resignation. However, here are four names to know when FSU is looking for its coach of the next men’s basketball.

Sam Cassel – graduates of FSU basketball, assistant coach of Boston Celtics

The current Boston Celtix coach Sam Kassel has long been involved in a major coaching role in the NBA, but nothing has yet been made for the FSU legend. He was in dispute over Los Angeles Lakers before being handed over to JJ Redick.

Cassell is linked to both NBA and coaching roles in college in the past, and returning to his Alma Mater can be the ideal opportunity to start his coaching trip. He played for Seminoles in 1992 and 1993, leading the team to sweet sixteen -elite eight during his two seasons.

He spent 16 seasons at the NBA, winning two NBA championships as a player with Houston Rockets and one with Celtics. Cassel has been an NBA assistant coach since 2009 and is part of the Celtics Coach Staff in 2024, which led to up to four in common.

The NBA coaching is all that Cassel knew, so moving to college may not be his first choice, but with his relationships with Seminols and the desire to be the main coach, he cannot be completely excluded.

Charlton Young – Missouri’s chief coach

Charlton Young has heavy ties to the FSU program, spending nine seasons under Hamilton as an assistant coach. He currently serves as an associated Missouri chief coach, led by another former FSU assistant, Dennis Gates.

Although the Gates move cannot be ignored, Young can be a more affordable option, with Gates currently building a strong Tigers team.

The young man traded Tallahassee for Columbia in 2022 and he played a key role in the current tiger season 17-4. He has nearly 30 years of coaching experience, including five seasons as the head coach of Georgia South.

Young is an excellent recruiter and he was an integral part of supporting FSU Land players like Scottie Barnes, Patrick Williams and Devin Vassel.

It has been more than a decade since his last lead coaching role, but he remains a valuable trainer on both FSU and Missouri. Young has experience and understanding in the navigation of the current landscape of the Athletics College, and he could bring it to Talahassi, keeping elements of Hamilton’s philosophy.

Andy Enfield – SMU chief trainer

Another coach from Hamilton’s coach, the current SMU chief coach Andy Enfield and the leader of the famous Dunk City team of Florida Gulf is an intriguing name to follow.

The transition from SMU to FSU after just one season leading the Mustangs program may be a shock, but with an Enfield connection, a full -circle return is possible.

He left Seminoles in five seasons (2006-2011) as an assistant to be the head coach at FGCU, followed by a stopping in USC and now SMU. He currently has Mustanges 17-5 in the first season of the ACC program and signed a six-year contract in the summer.

It may be a long shot for Enfield to jump from one ACC team to another, but its Tallahasesee connection plays a factor.

Luke Lux – FSU Basketball Graduates, Sacramento Kings Assistant Coach

Other former graduates who will follow, Luke Lux is someone who can make his FSU coaching debut.

Loucks a game for Seminoles and Hamilton from 2008 to 2012 and he spent time in coaching roles with Kings and Golden State, winning two NBA championships with Warriors. He is only 34 and can be a long-term head coach at FSU, like Hamilton, if he realizes the potential that made it one of the fastest coaches in basketball.

Loucks visited the FSU campus last year during the NBA All-Star vacation and is a long-standing coaching perspective by program fans.

If Seminoles want someone who knows the program and has connections with Hamilton, Loucks is the perfect fit.

Will Wade – McNese State Coach

The last name on the list is McNase Will Wild’s head coach. He does not hold the links with FSU, which make the previous three names, but would mean a new direction for the program in the after Hamilton.

Wade was previously chief coach in Chattanuga and VCU before a tumultuous LSU spell from 2017 to 2022. During his time with the tigers, he went 105-51 and was struck at the NCAA recruitment after encountering it, suggesting that it offers to They pay players, it was held in 2019, two years before Nil came into force.

Following the NCAA investigations, the LSU terminated Wade’s contract in 2022. He was named McNeese’s chief coach in 2023 and he published 38-7 recording in two seasons, including the birth of the NCAA tournament in his first season.
