From the publisher: Now is the time to think big – a bigger business than the Baton Rouge report

Baton Rouge: It’s time to wake up, look in the mirror and ask, “Why not us?”

This is the message from publisher Julio Melar in its column for the last issue of Business report. We are currently standing at a crossroads and the choice we make today will determine the future for generations, he writes.

Do we continue to do what we have always done – to play it safely, to think a little, and to stay in less? Or do we grab that moment for the horns and strive for greatness? Baton Rouge has missed too many opportunities in the past. Melar says it’s time to think big.

The transformation is right in front of us. These are not just fantastic ideas or dream dreams – they are a real, actual steps towards turning our city magnet for opportunities, growth and pride. Imagine LSU with a new arena that wears world -class concerts. Imagine the River Center with a living conventional hotel in the city center, buzzing with life. Envision Memorial Stadium is transformed into a first -class place for large sports tournaments. These are the types of moves that say to the world that Baton Rouge is open to business – and relaxation.
