Trailborn Surf & Sound reveals renovation in the former blockage runner
Trailborn Surf & Sound held a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 29, 2025 to show a renovation in the former blockade runner.
- The Blockade Runner Motor Hotel, which opened in Wrightsville Beach in 1964, was recently renamed Trailborn Surf & Sound.
- The seventh hotel cost $ 2 million to build and initially had 120 rooms, restaurant, meetings, cafe and swimming pool.
- The hotel has been run by the Bagett family since 1971 until it was sold to a New York company in 2023.
It has been less than a month since the blockade Runner Resort has officially received a new name: Trailborn Surf & Sound.
The rebrand marks another chapter in the history of the long -standing place of Wrightsville Beach, which began in 1964.
According to an article of February 23, 1964, Starnews, the blockade run hotel is expected to open on March 22 as “the most recent and modern convention facility of New Hanover County”.
Construction began in 1962 in the main seven -storey building and carried a price of $ 2 million. In addition to 120 rooms, the plans included a restaurant, meeting rooms, a cafe and a swimming pool.
Even before it opened, at least 22 conventions are expected to attract 3 255 people have already been booked by October. The owners also studied a supplement of 50 rooms and a docking station on the sound side.
Since its opening since 1964, the facility has been a family business. It has been run by the Bagett family since 1971 until it was sold to the New York -based investment and development company in 2023.
“Our goal is to preserve the favorite charm that made it the community of the Wrightsville Beach Community and to ensure that its incomparable service, history and unique character continue to create more non -conversion memories and new guests,” said Mike Weiss, Co-founder and co-executive director of Trailborn, in a news message in 2024.
