Military families and runners ended 176 miles from the Florida veterans Memorial in Vietnam in Talahasi to the Memorial Wall of Jacksonville Veterans.

Jacksonville, Florida-beagle and military families wrapped 176 miles, a three-day trip on Sunday from Talahassi to Jacksonville for running Florida for the fallen, honoring those who served.

The participants began at the Florida veterans Memorial in Vietnam in Talahasi and ran to the memorial wall of the veterans in Jacksonville.

Gold Star families gathered for a powerful goal race. For many, this event was not just about running – but about connecting with others who have experienced the same heartbreaking loss.

Tab Taber is the father of the gold star who honors his late employee of his son SGT. George Taber Fifth for the last three years.

“This is one of those clubs you do not want to participate in, but since you are part of it, whether you have met them once or you know 100 times, there is a common relationship,” Taber said.

After each mile, the runners and the volunteers stopped and read the names of fallen soldiers.

As the names were read aloud on the memorial wall of the veterans, the families of gold stars were given a yellow rose to honor their loved ones.

Joy Plant, a member of one of these families, received a rose in memory of his son.

“We are here to honor him and say his name. We don’t want to forget. We don’t want anyone else to forget,” the factory said.

The families who participated in the competition encourage others facing such losses to find ways to honor the life of a loved one.
