Madison, wis. (WMTV) – It will soon be a new series of Wisconsin registration plates.

The Wisconsin Ministry of Transport has announced on Thursday that after over 4.7 million letters combinations and number starting with the letter A, it is time to take over the “B” series.

DMV administrator Tommy Winkler said DMV is proud to implement these Wisconsin drivers identification while moving from point A to point B.

“Drivers can ‘B’ on the alert for the new registration plates when they start to unfold across the country this month,” Winkler said.

DMV estimates that after the first batch of B plates, the roads, starting with BAA, will take approximately seven years and millions of combinations to go through them all.

Wisconsin releases over 600,000 new registration plates each year. The plates have been issued for almost eight years.

By April 2017, all Wisconsin registration plates had six characters. The current Wisconsin registration plates have seven characters, which creates about 100 million combinations. Wisdot notes that letters I, O and Q are not included in combinations due to their resemblance to numbers.
