Frances “Teddy” Southers, 81, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away at 9:30 p.m., Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Boone Health Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at East Salem Cemetery near Galt, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested at the cemetery and may be left or mailed to Slater-Neal Funeral Home in Trenton.
Frances Estelle Southers was born on September 1, 1943, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Noah Jerry and Dorva Lear. After graduating from North Kansas City High School, she earned a degree from UMKC. On November 9, 1968, she married John Arthur Southers in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2008. Mrs. Southers worked as a social worker for House of Hope and the Division of Youth Services. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was extremely devoted to her family.
Surviving relatives include her son, Jeff Southers and wife Kathy of Harris, Missouri; a daughter, Elizabeth Bryant of Higginsville, Mo.; grandchildren, Wyatt Bryant and wife Ashley, Josie Bryant, Olivia Bryant, Erika Graham and husband Cody, Michelle Southers and Brian Southers; and six great-grandchildren.
Those who preceded her in death include her parents, husband, brother Doug Lair and sister Lucille Stacer.
