Dolphins will call his next master next month and he will come from one of their Fab Four forward to the new leadership group.
The standard wisdom is the 24-year-old lock of warriors Tom Gilbert will receive the honor after the captain of the Jesse Bromvich Foundation retired late last year.
Gilbert is the favorite, but the veteran forward Felis Caufuzi, Kenny Bromvich and Mark Nicolls are in the leadership group and have their own starfront.
The whole quartet has experience, gravites and respect for the play group.
The 35 -year -old Nichols led the country last year when Jesse Bromvich was not available, but he is in dusk in his career. Kaufusi and Bromwich, who have won premieres together in Melbourne, are also close to the end than the beginning of their star contributions as players.
Gilbert appears the hot favorite in the long run, but he has not played NRL game since May 2023 due to a shoulder injury before doing his ACL in the tests last season.
Therefore, any message about the captain is not expected until the end of February and after all the tests have been carried out. Gilbert has set the first as a goal for his return and will be crucial in his development next month.
At this stage, the dolphins have Gilbert to play in the NRL’s pre -season clash in the season against Gold Coast on February 22 in Redcliffe.
New coach Christian Wolfe is yet to call the captain, but Nicols said he would be proud to play under the leadership of Queensland Gilbert.
“Christian didn’t give much,” Nichols said.
“Tom plays Fatherov the way I love.
“I don’t think there will be a player in dolphins who wouldn’t want to follow Tom in battle.
“The way he plays and behaves around training is one of the reasons for being in the leadership group, despite his age.
“All the boys would stand behind him.”
Dolphins Tery Reader CEO also said the decision was far from settled.
“This is something that is being talked about, but we will go through the trials and see how the boys gather,” he said.
“We have a wonderful leadership group and the captain will come from this group.”
A reader said “Everything about Tom” made him a strong candidate.
“He had two injuries to complete the season, and exactly the way he did his rehabilitation, come back and how he did in the group,” he said.
“He is a wonderful leader when he is on the pitch and with what he does off the pitch.
“The biggest thing you have to worry about Tom is to get it on the pitch. We’ll just be glad to see Tom play football.”
