Four girls from North Nevada win state wrestling titles; Reed takes third in the team standings – Reno Gazette Journal

The girls from North Nevada won several individual titles, including the first from Spanish Springs student, but the South Nevada teams took the first two team places, and Reed finished third in the national championships in the girls’ fight.

Spanish junior Springs Viviana Zavala won the 100 -pound girls ‘title on Saturday at the Girls’ State Championships held at Rafter 3C Arena in Fallon.

Reed Eli Smith’s senior won the state title with 190 pounds, and senior Ella Cavano won with 105 pounds.

Centennial won the team title with 129.5 points, followed by Slam Nevada with 106 and Reed was third with 92.0.

Senior West Ventover Destiny Gonzalez won the state title with £ 155.

Smith said she was determined to give him the best efforts, knowing that this would be her last meeting in the fight in high school.

She has several offers in college, but she is not sure if she will continue to compete in the fight.

Smith finished fourth in the state last year, but she said that the vision of her friends, teammates, coaches and family in the crowd gave her an extra impetus to get the victory on Saturday.

She also canceled her training.

“I put a lot of work to do in this extra -season,” she said.

She nailed Jazzin Nunes, Cheen to the 3:57 brand.

The Zavala won the regional title in January, after which he won a staff on Saturday, making her the first girl for a Spanish Springs girl to carry out every feat.

Reed had three runners-up, Maya Fiodorava (120 pounds), Eliana Santos-Banks (170) and Charlie Tims (235).
