FOUR GAMES: Check out these Week 8 prep football games to watch in Baton Rouge – The Advocate

DUTCHTOWN AT WALKER

7pm at WHS

Big game at District 5-5A. DTHS (6-0, 3-0) is in the driver’s seat, and Walker (4-3, 2-1) is the contender again. A year ago, the Wildcats beat Dutchtown. This time around, Walker is looking to snap a two-game losing streak. RBs. Walker’s Cayden Jones (1,058 yards) and DTHS’ Lekedrin Harvey (three TDs last week) are the headliners.

ISTHRUMA OF WEST FELICIANA

7 p.m. at WFHS-St. Francisville

Plaquemine leads District 6-4A, but the Indians (6-1, 4-1) and West Feliciana (4-3, 4-1) are next in the standings. A win would certainly boost postseason status for both teams. Istrouma’s Kyree Paul is one of Baton Rouge’s electrifying playmakers with 813 rushing yards and 13 TDs.

KENTWOOD VS. SOUTHERN LAB

7pm at SU’s AW Mumford Stadium

It’s one of the best district rivalries in Louisiana and is a Class 1A /9-1A matchup that others across the state will be watching in Week 8. After losing to Class 3A rival Tangipahoa, the eighth-ranked Kangaroos have outscored two opponents by 107-12. No. 7 Southern Lab looks to bounce back from a three-game losing streak.

PARKVIEW BAPTIST UNIVERSITY

7pm on PBS

Can Parkview Baptist be the District 6-3A Giant Killer in Week 8? Both teams lost their season openers. Since then, the top-ranked Cubs (6-1, 3-0) have won six straight, including a win over Catholic. PBS (4-3, 2-1) has rebounded nicely from the Madison Prep loss with two straight wins.
