Four female Israeli soldiers released in exchange for 200 Palestinian prisoners – Irvine Times

Later, Israel released 200 Palestinian prisoners in the second similar section during a fragile ceasefire.

In the first major crisis of the deal, Israel said it would not allow the displaced Palestinians to start returning to Northern Gaza, as expected until Sunday, because a civilian hostage who had to be released, Arbel Yehud was not released.

The four Israeli soldiers, Karina Ariev, 20, Daniela Gilboa, 20, Naama Levy, 20 years old, and Lyry Albag, 19 years old, were taken from the base of Nahal Oz near the border with Gaza when the Palestinian fighters beat him, killing more, killing him more of 60 soldiers.

Among the released Palestinian prisoners were the 52 -year -old Mohammed Ode and the 54 -year -old Wael Kasim, accused of attacking Hamas against Israeli, including a bombing at a cafe at Jewish University in Jerusim in 2002, which killed nine people, including five citizens to the United States.

Twenty -six other hostages must be released in the six -week first phase of fire termination, along with hundreds of more Palestinian prisoners. The next exchange is next Saturday.

What happens after the first phase is uncertain, but many hope that this will lead to the end of the war, which has displaced the vast majority of the Gaza population and left hundreds of thousands at risk of hunger.

The attack on October 7 killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took about 250 other hostages. More than 100 were released into a one -week truce next month. Israel believes that at least one-third of the 90s plus captives still in gas are dead.

The war killed more than 47,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials who do not say how many fighters were, but say that women and children make up over half the dead.
