The story of former Texas Longhorns Leader Luke Brokermier is one with many ups and falls.
Brockermeyer, the son of former All-American Offence Tackle Blockmeyer, arrived at campus, arrived on the campus as a walk in 2018, and then won a scholarship a year later. He eventually worked until the beginning of 10 games in 2021, recording 62 common equipment and two intercepts this season. He even won the All-Big 12 Honorary Choice of Mention.
Unfortunately, Brockermeyer received a knee injury at the end of the season. After his return in 2022, he played the most in special teams, as he did earlier in his career.
Now Brockermeyer is creating a new path as a coach and he has reached his next stop this time.
On Saturday, North Texas announced the hiring of Brockermeyer as a defense assistant, noting that he would work directly with the defense line.
Brockermeyer has spent the last two years as a graduate TCU assistant, working most with line players. He helped the horned frogs end 9-4 this season, including a victory over Louisiana in New Mexico Cup. This move also allowed him to reunite with his smaller brother James Brokermyer, who plays an offensive attempt at the horned frogs.
The Fort Worth -born will leave his hometown and his brother behind him with this move, but this next chapter brings many promises to him.
