Former Pittsburgh Defender Steelers Mark Gilbert is heading for his second season in the United Football League, joining the show Boys in Memphis for the 2025 season, he was announced on Monday.
The 27 -year -old Gilbert Game for the UFL Birmingham stallions in 2024, during which he registered 25 games (20 solo) and one interception in seven games.
Prior to joining the UFL, Gilbert spent time with dolphins in Miami (2023), Pittsburgh Maulers (2023), Pittsburgh Steelers (2021-22) and Detroit Lions (2021).
Gilbert remained undeveloped in NFL’s draft in 2021 and was signed as an misunderstood free agency by Steelers. He did not make the active list, but was signed in the Pittsburgh team.
In the middle of their season, the Lions signed Gilbert from the Steelers Practice team. As a member of Detroit’s active list, he recorded three shells (two solo), one forced blow and one pass defeated in eight games.
Gilbert was denied by the Lions in August 2022 and re -joined the Steelers Practice team for the 2022 season.
Gilbert played in 12 games during his freshman in Duke, starting three of them. He then had an excellent sophomore, becoming the only player in Duke’s history with five or more interference and 15 or more passes protected in one season.
He suffered a hip injury in the 2nd week of his junior year against the northwest. The injury aside the rest of the 2018 season and the whole season 2019. Gilbert began two games in 2020 before receiving a leg injury at the end of the season.
Gilbert was raised in Faetavil, North Carolina, but has alikipa roots. His uncle is Sean Gilbert, Pete’s Fellow and a former Pro Bowl defender with Los Angeles Rams, and his cousin donated Revis.
