By james art The case against the 39-year-old, who is now the Conservative MP for Basildon and Billericay, was heard at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court under the Unified Court Procedure on Tuesday.
The court was told that Holden was recorded on piloted equipment exceeding the 30mph speed limit on the A689 Durham Road, Wolsingham, while driving the Toyota, on March 2.
He pleaded guilty to going 30mph on a restricted road and was fined £333 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £133 surcharge.
In determining the sentence, the magistrates took into account his guilty plea.
Holden, whose address is listed in court documents as Front Street, Wolsingham, was given until November 19 to pay the balance of £556.
He was the MP for Durham North West from 2019 to July 2024.
He was leader of the Conservative Party from November 2023 until his resignation on 8 July 2024 following the 2024 general election.
Holden served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Roads and Local Transport from October 2022 to November 2023 and as Minister without Portfolio from November 2023 to July 2024.
