Dover, DE (AP)-Klinton Portis, who rushed for just under 10,000 yards in nine seasons of NFL and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection, was named Desean Jackson Running Backs and Run Game at Delaware State.
Thehe Hornets has announced the hiring of Portis On Social Media Thursday. Portis joins Jackson, Norfolk state coach Michael Vick and State coach Tennessee Edie George as former NFL stars to work at historically black universities. Daine Sanders Coach in Jackson before heading for Colorado.
Portis, who played in the team of the Miami National Championship in 2001, was 2002. The NFL offensive rookie after he rushed to 1.508 yards and 15 touchdowns for Denver Broncos. He was traded in Washington in 2004 and had four seasons per 1000 yards before the team released it after the 2010 season.
In 2022, Portis was sentenced to six months in the federal prison and six months in home detention after pleading guilty of conspiracy for cheating in healthcare. Portis was among 15 former NFL players who admitted that they were deceiving a NFL program designed to recover medical expenses that were not covered by retired players and their families insurance.
