JC Escarra never gave up on her dream. After years of fighting and battle, the former FIU hunter will get his chance in the big leagues.
The former outspoken FIU has won a place on the list of opening the New York Yankees Day, the team said.
A native of Hyaliah, Escara joins the Yankees after playing more than 450 games in the secondary leagues.
Baltimore Oriol has chosen Escarra in the 15th round of the MLB 2017 project. He plays in their secondary league system, reaching the Triple with Norfolk tides.
After the Orioles released him in April 2022, his baseball future was not sure.
To support, he climbed for Uber and works as a replacement teacher while continuing to play in independent leagues, responsible for the monarchs in Kansas City and the Med Gastonia dents.
In January 2024, New York Yankees signed the escape of a minor league contract.
He started the season with the Double-A Somerset Patriots before being promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders, where he published .302/.403/.527 Slash Line in 52 games.
His constant execution made the Yankees add it to their list of 40 people in November 2024.
During the spring training in 2025, Escara caught the attention of the manager with an average .333 and .936 OPS in 17 games.
His implementation has won him a place in the Yankees’ detection list, said manager Aaron Boone as a reserve hunter.
When he makes his MLB debut, Esca will become the 19th player in the history of FIU’s baseball to reach the specialties.
He also joins Logan Allen (Guardians of Cleveland) and Austin Shenon (Seattle Marinrs) as one of the three former panthers who are currently in the list of the 1940s in the league.
