Florida universities turn to politicians as Presidents – Tampa Bay Times

The big story: In the increasingly politicized world of education, universities and colleges in Florida are turning to politicians for leadership more and more.

Large schools have happened, such as the rotation of former US senator Ben Sase at the University of Florida, and little, including the recent appointment of the former head of the Florida Ministry of Transport, a staff of Tori Alston at Broward College.

The trustees in two more schools in Florida currently look at the former legislators to manage their campuses.

The Florida Atlantic University has former Republican majority leader Adam Hasner in the mixture in its presidential demand, Sun-Sentinel reports. The International University of Florida is also expected to appoint Lieutenant Jeanet Nunys as a temporary president today, raising questions who can replace her in the governor’s office, the Times/Herald Tallahasee Bureau reports.

The role of politicians governing schools is of course nothing new.

Over the years, we have seen some examples as a prominent place, including Senator John Trasher’s order in Florida and Commissioner for Education and Senator Betty Castor at the University of South Florida. And then there is the efforts of governor Ron Ron Ron at the New College and the University of Western Florida to infuse the guardian, who qualifies with high guerrilla appointed.
