Florida Keys traffic stop leads to drug charges for two men – Tampa Free Press

MONROE COUNTY, FL- Two men were arrested Thursday on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in the Florida Keys.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a truck near Mile Marker 96 on US 1 after they observed it not maintaining its lane and obstructing traffic. The driver, Joshua Gomez, 21, of Hialeah, and the passenger, Christian Isay Perez, 23, of West Park, were found to be in possession of various drugs.

Drugs found during a search

A search of the vehicle revealed a strong odor of marijuana and found:

  • alprazolam (xanax)
  • Quetiapine (Seroquel)
  • Buprenorphine (Suboxone)
  • Synthetic cannabinoid

Charges filed

Perez was charged with possession of all four over-the-counter substances. Gomez was charged with DUI, tampering with evidence and possession of over-the-counter buprenorphine.
