A Florida woman caught on a video, shooting her ex-friend, a Sheriff’s deputy in Miami-Dad, was sentenced on Friday to 30 years in prison, followed by a 20-year probationary period.

Jeseniya Sanchez, who works as a police officer at Miami-Dad schools, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and aggravated the lurification of Damian Colon’s shooting.

The 35-year-old was accused of tracking a colon at his Hyalea home, shooting him in the face and then running off the stage.

The observation video provided by the State Prosecutor’s Office seems to show the exact moment when Sanchez points to a gun in the victim’s head and pulls the trigger.

Colon, a 17-year-old veteran at the Miami-Dad Police Department, is evident to collapse on the ground as Sanchez moves away.

The video also shows that Sanchez’s truck crashes into other vehicles as it accelerates to escape from the stage, leaving a “path of destruction,” according to investigators.

Sanchez, who resigned from his work in 2021, after allegations of domestic violence arising from an individual incident, was later arrested at Hyalea’s home, NBC South Florida reported.

Colon – who now uses a wheelchair and retired from MDSO earlier this month – was in the courtroom as Sanchez accepted his legal basis agreement.

“Justice is serviced and I think it has received what it deserves,” he said, according to the local WPLG station. “I think she had to get more, but I’ll take what she got.”

In a statement published before the press after a hearing on Friday, Miami-Dadd Katrin Fernandez Rundell’s state prosecutor said that Sanchez’s prolonged sentence would not “recover the physical damage she had done while trying to kill the man she once loved.”

“Unfortunately, these marks will continue forever,” she said.
