A significant change in the model is directed to southwestern Idaho for potential dangerous winter conditions.
The system makes its way to our region early on Friday morning, with the initial snowfall expected at the valley levels before moving to the rain later on the day. The active meteorological model will continue over the weekend until next week.
As the system rolls, the snow levels will start at the valley floors, which will allow the snow to go to the Treasure Valley early Friday morning and heavy snowfall to really arrange for the weekend for the mountains. The potential for snow and rainfall is:
- The early snowfall for Boyz seems to get to an inch before it changes in the rain
- Once the abyss has changed in the rain, Boise seems to be about .50 “Rain on Monday
- In the mountains on Friday, the snow is arranged a little, but only over the weekend the common ones will become heavy.
- The common weekend looks from 1 to 3 feet of snow, with next week.
- Travel in the mountains:
- Plan for difficult travel conditions
- Have a winter emergency set on hand
- Consider postponing insignificant mountain trips
- Check the conditions of the road before departure
- Valley residents:
- Prepare for influence on morning trips for Friday
- Watch for smooth roads during the transition from snow to rain
- Give yourself extra time to get to your destination safely
We will continue to monitor this development system and provide updates when new information becomes. Keep an eye on our first warning meteorological team for the most.
