The King and Queen will open Windsor Castle in early November to festive guests to enjoy a historic festive season. And for the first time, a miniature royal in residence will get its own Christmas decoration.
Windsor Castle will officially open to visitors for the holidays from 21 November 2024 to 6 January 2025.
Although the almost thousand-year-old castle is impressive in its own right, the Royal Collection Trust have planned an elaborate festive celebration for visitors to enjoy.
There will be a 20-foot Nordmann Christmas tree, grown in the great Windsor park, complete with royal decorations, in the hall of St. George.
The Crimson Drawing Room in the Semi-State Rooms will have its own decorated tree, a particularly special part of the tour as the room is still used by the Royal Family today.
There will also be a third holiday tree in the Undercroft Cafe for guests to admire while enjoying some festive treats.
Visitors of all ages will be able to learn about Victorian Christmas traditions at the Learning Center between Sunday 22 December and Sunday 5 January.
The Queen Mary Dollhouse will also get the Christmas treatment. For the first time in its history, the dollhouse will have its own holiday decorations, including a scale Christmas tree and garlands. These decorations mark the end of the dollhouse’s 100th anniversary.
