Field events carry the day as Lubbock Christian continues its Albuquerque – LCU Athletics season

Albuquerque, nm (January 26, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University closed out its time at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational with strong performances in its field events.

Honors included throwers in the women’s division, Abigail Jones and Jazmene Duran. Both Lady Chaps competed in the shot put and weight throw and notched five finishes in their flights. Durand finished second in the shot put with a distance of 14.52m and finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 11.37m. Jones placed fourth in the shot with a distance of 11.44m and tied for fifth in the shot put with a distance of 13.82m. These results put the duo just outside the top ten overall as they narrowly missed out on claiming provisional marks.

The chaparrals were led by Carter Woodwho’s performance in the triple jump landed him second in his flight and just outside the top ten overall. The freshman posted a distance of 13.31m in his first career meet with Lubbock Christian. Pole Voltaire Jeremiah Fernandez He ended his day in the top ten after recording a height of 4.02m.

Lubbock Christian will return home to the Lone Star State to participate in the Stan Scott and Multi Invitational hosted by Texas Tech University on January 31st and February 1st.
