“Farm people do such things”: David Prescott enjoys his first marathon Talahasi – Talahasi Democrat

It can be difficult for marathons to explain why running is so fun for disorders.

David Probst suggested his reasoning.

“Nuts people do things like that and I like it,” Presca said, laughing.

Probst, a relatively newcomer to the race distance, liked everything for his time in Sunday Marathon Tallahassee.

The 24-year-old and former footballer was the best Talahassi finalist in fifth place, covering the course 26.2 miles at 2:48:34.

27 -year -old Dylan Girringer of Philadelphia was the overall winner at 2:25:30, while the 34 -year -old Gabriel Sover of Clermont was the first finish of women and the sixth in general at 2:54:03.

In the half-marathon of 13.1 miles, 43-year-old Katie Shern of Talahasi won the Women’s Division at 1:18: 38 (eighth as a whole).

The 24 -year -old Colorado Springs Sadio Laner won the half -marathon at 1:09:58.

Talahasi Marathon celebrates its 50th anniversary

More than 2100 runners entered the events as the Talahasi Marathon celebrates its 50th Anniversary.

It was almost perfect conditions for the starting times from 7:30 am, with temperatures in the mid-40s. In part, the cloud skies gave way to clear the conditions and pace in the 1950s until 9 in the morning there was almost no wind, as temperatures climbed in the 1970s to mid-afternoon.

For Probst, which ended 2022 at Virginia Tech, which won a master’s degree in business administration in Florida, the competition offered him another opportunity to compete.

After Probst won 20 pounds during his senior year at college, he began to run. And he didn’t stop.

The race on Sunday was his seventh marathon.

“I couldn’t refuse a marathon, where the starting line was five minutes from my front door,” said Protes, which is an average of 6:26 division and works remotely for Leidos, an innovation company based in his home country Virginia. “The course is really hilly, so I’m quite pleased with the effort. It’s hard, but the look gives me a sense to go.

“It’s a goal, I’m just trying to get faster and faster.”

Katie Sherren Famous Face on the Local Racing Stage

Meanwhile, Shern is a finished runner and a well -known person in local competitions.

However, there was a degree of uncertainty about the level of competition in the half -marathon. Sherron exchanged small conversations on the launch line with Lisa Hart from the Winter Garden. The duo was not known, but it had come for the first eight miles.

Sherron then bet and hoped Hart would not call her a bluff.

“I don’t have a quick kick at all, so I felt I was going to make a move. That was the moment,” said Shern, who average 6:00 sections and finished second in last year’s half -marathon. “My plan was to go (the next) mile as quickly as possible, knowing perfectly well that I didn’t have the ability to support it at all. But she didn’t know it.

“I had to press my luck and he turned out to be,” when Hart, 35 -year -old, ended a minute behind Shernne and ranked second in the Women’s Division.
