Florida A&M defender Daniel Richardson stood the central scene among the best HBCU players in the country.

On Saturday HBCU Legacy Bowl, Richardson won the player’s most valuable honor for the leading team Robinson to win 17-14 over Team Gaither.

Richardson finished nine out of 12 passes for 110 yards and landing at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans at the campus of the University of Tulan.

In the four -year history of the game, Richardson is the third rattle to win the HBCU Legacy Bowl MVP Award.

Richardson and his Famu teammates Jamari Gasset (wide receiver), Jeremiah Prit (Narrow End), Jalen Gos (offended liner) and Kendall Boller (Defense Back) spent the New Orleans week for HBCU NFL Combine and Legacy Bowl.

Richardson, from Miami, played his last Rattlers Football Season College after previous stops at Central Michigan and Florida Atlantic.

The 5-Crak-10, 205-pound defender ended the 2024 season, completing 231 out of 330 (70 percent) gaps for 2662 yards and scored 23 touchdowns for eight intercepts. The Southwestern Athletic Conference called Richardson his newcomer of the year and chose it in the first team after the season.

In addition, Richardson won the most valuable player on Meac/Swac Challenge and was the finalist of the Walter Payton Award and All-American Honorary Mention of HBCU after his 2024 season.

For her career, including Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic and Famo, Richardson recorded statistics from 874 for 1385 ends (63 percent), 10 054 passing yards, 79 passing touchdown and 31 intercepts.

While in Central Michigan, Richardson gave way to Chippewas to win the 24-21 Sun Bowl over Washington State in 2021. He finished 18 of the 34 passes for 209 yards, noted landing and had an interception.

The 24 -year -old Richardson graduated from Famu with his Master of Business Administration last December. He will return to the Famu campus for Rattlers Pro Day on Thursday, March 20, from 2:00 pm
