Families shocked that the cost of the community pool was rising by over $ 300: “Drastic Increase” – FOX 5 Las Vegas

Fargo, ND (KVLY/Gray News) – Mom in North Dakota was shocked when she realized she would cost over $ 300 this year.

Jessica Nelson, a local resident who uses community pools in the Fargo Parks area, said she was looking forward to swimming with her three children this summer.

But Nelson is not too pleased with the price increase.

“I was surprised to see such a drastic increase in price, along with the change in politics, due to a lack of a better word,” she said.

Nelson said this year was prepared for a little higher price, as prices were raised by $ 10 in the previous year.

The omission for the family season for the Fargo Parks region costs $ 183.50 in 2023 and was raised to $ 193 in 2024. This year it will cost $ 500 – a huge increase of $ 307.

An additional pool is added to the season of the season this year, but Nelson said the drastic increase was still too high. She wants to have another “happy medium” option, where families can pay more expensive price and have access to the old pools only, not the new ones.

“I don’t have to use Island Park [the new pool]S I think this is a great advantage for our community. I think it will lead people. I am so glad that the swimming team will have a place to host meetings. But you just have to pay the premium to go if that’s what you would like to do, “she said.

Nelson said she was also talking on behalf of other families in the community.

“There is a much larger part of our community, especially children who need the pool and who cannot afford this premium price,” Nelson said.

The pool passages will be available for purchase on April 1.
