The progressive Baptist church of St. Paul gathered to celebrate an exceptional woman who was the cornerstone of their community in the past January. For more than 40 years, Eva Morrison has been a pillar of her community, consistently devoting her time and energy to helping others. Morrison received a heartfelt recognition from his church family for decades of service and a deep impact on the lives of countless people.

Dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great -grandmother, sister, cousin and aunt, she has devoted her life to serving others with grace and compassion. Some of its many contributions include being a church deacon for 30 years, director of the kitchen and scholarship hall and coordination of church events for 12 years.

She was also a children’s room teacher and preschool age for holiday schools, a member of the Committee on grieving and active volunteer in the church’s food shelf, “Pisces and loves.” One of her most notable achievements in the progressive church is her cooperation with Reverend Earl Miller in the creation and leadership of the Church in the Children’s Center, a program that touched the lives of countless children and their families. Morrison has run this initiative for 17 years.

With the participation of Morrison, the Children’s Center became more than a safe haven for children; It has become a start to success. Many of the children who grew up under her care continued to visit a college. A significant number of these children chose historical black colleges and universities (HBCU).

Today, these once young children are successful professionals, married and raising children. They are respectful, community -oriented adults who lend much of their basis to the love and guidance they have received from Morrison.

The church family respects her for the many hats she has been wearing in the community for more than 30 years. Whether known as D -Ja Morrison, Aunt May or just mom, she was a source of wisdom, kindness and power of all who cross her path.

As the meeting gathered to celebrate this remarkable woman, the atmosphere was filled with love, gratitude and admiration. The applause and cheers were a testament to the countless lives it touched and the lasting heritage she built in and outside the progressive church.
