Earlier this week, LSU received the nightcap for its matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide. This is due to the nature of this game, as the winner is immediately back in the College Football Playoff race, while the loser is likely eliminated from the race. The atmosphere for the game just got even crazier as College Gameday will return to Baton Rouge.
This will be the fourteenth time College Gameday’s featured game has been LSU vs. Alabama, tying Ohio State vs. Penn State for the most. It also marks the first time College Gameday will return to Baton Rouge since October 12, 2019 during LSU’s National Championship season.
This is the second time LSU has been the featured game on Gameday, as they won earlier this year at South Carolina on College Gameday.
The only person likely to be upset by this matchup is Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, who complained earlier this week that LSU would get the night game next weekend. What Kiffin doesn’t realize is that there is no favoritism behind this decision, as the motives are simple. LSU beat Ole Miss and Alabama beat Georgia, or they probably would have been in the spotlight.
