SOUTH CAROLINA (WBTV) – Election Day polls opened at 7 a.m. in South Carolina, giving the state’s citizens a chance to cast their votes.
Polls in the Palmetto State will remain open until 7 p.m., although anyone in line when the deadline rolls around will still be eligible to vote.
Unlike during the early voting period, voters on Election Day must vote in their designated precinct. Voters in South Carolina can find theirs by submitting their information here.

Voters in South Carolina should note that they must present a photo ID to vote.
Acceptable photo IDs in South Carolina include:
- SC Driver’s License (includes standard license and REAL ID)
- SC Department of Motor Vehicles ID (includes standard ID, REAL ID and SC Concealed Weapons Permit)
- SC Voter Registration Card with Photo
- Federal Military ID (includes all Department of Defense photo ID and Veterans Affairs benefits card)
- US Passport (includes US Passport ID)
South Carolina appears to be trending toward former President Donald Trump, with most polls showing him with a significant lead in the state. He won the state in both 2016 and 2020, and it hasn’t gone blue since Jimmy Carter won in 1976.
Gov. Henry McMaster is up for re-election this year after winning a second full term in 2022.
