El Behery, Fronk and Ah Mook Sang earn final weekly honors for 2024 – Big West Conference

Offensive Player of the Week
Laila El Beheri, UC Irvine | Senior • Forward • Cairo, Egypt

  • 8136Laila El Beheri boasts West Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season after an impressive performance at UC Riverside. Overall, this is El Behery’s fourth career weekly honor (September 4, 2023 | September 20, October 4, 2021).

  • The senior forward scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 decision at UCR to close out the 2024 campaign. El Beheri leads the team in scoring (6) and points (13).

  • With the win, UCI earned a spot in the upcoming 2024 Big West Women’s Soccer Championship and will play a first-round match at Anteater Stadium and host fifth-seeded Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Defensive Player of the Week
Ginny Fronk, University of California, San Diego | Sophomore • Goalie • Cranberry Township, Pa.

  • 8138UC San Diego sees Ginny Fronk pick up the inaugural Big West Defensive Player of the Week award for the goaltending performance against Cal Poly. This is the first weekly honor of Funk’s career.

  • The Tritons picked up their first conference win of the season at home in shutout fashion over the Mustangs (2-0). Overall, this is the third win for UCSD.

  • Fronk posted a career high in saves with 14 shutouts on the night. The new rating doubled the netminder’s previous high (7).

Freshman of the Week
Laule’a Ah Mook Sang, Hawaii | Defender • Honolulu Oahu •

  • Ah Mook Sang was instrumental in helping UH’s back line secure its sixth shutout of the 2024 season. The Honolulu, O’ahu native was one of only two UH players to go the full 90 minutes against Long Beach State.

  • Hawai’i won the 2024 Big West Women’s Soccer regular season championship and will host the upcoming championship as the No. 1 seed, beginning with the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7 at a TBA start time.
