East Baton Rouge Parish, La. (WAFB) – East Baton Rouge parish parish members, the mayor of SID Edwards may have received some retreat during a mayoralty meeting. The next branch of the Scotland library is the next in the list of capital improvements. The main building is empty, but the services are still available in the attached archive in the immediate vicinity. The projects are paid with tax dollars you voted for renewal.

“The public tells us what they want us to do because they hear them demand, and we are privileged to respond to these requests since 1987, when we first started to throw away the plan,” said the assistant director of the library Mary Stein.

The tax will again be for voting, but there may be some competition. Mayor Sid Edwards has a plan that would take some money from the library tax and redirect it to common parish operations.

“Do you want a beautiful $ 20 million building in the center of Baton Rouge, right? Or do you want less traffic? “Asked East Baton Rouge Rouge Chief Administrative Officer Charlie Davis.

Specific details about the mayor’s plan were not given a meeting on Monday night at the Jewel J. Newman Chitalishte in Scotlandville, although it was on the agenda. The administration members tried to sell the voter plan.

“The goal here is not to hurt the library. The goal is to ensure that we can feed our families, “explained East Baton Rouge’s parish official Dr. Yolanda Burnet-Lacford.

The audience people don’t seem to buy it.

“He should not use our library money for congestion plans or road traffic here in Baton Rouge. It is set aside for libraries and should be used for libraries, “a woman said.

“The reason for the funds is dedicated that taxpayers cannot trust the government to do what they have to do with these dollars,” one person said.

Stein said the library leaders had conversations with members of the Subway Council and some casual conversations with mayoral staff with CAO Charlie Davis, who attended their special session on the board.

“People are eager to work on some compromise that protects the library and still allows some solution that helps the rest of the parish,” Stein explained.
