The reconstruction of 42 million British pounds into one of the largest sports places in Birmingham was provided to the top.
Priory and Raglan stand at Edgbaston Stadium will be replaced with a new facility with 3.191 seats. A hotel with 146 beds will also be opened on the site.
The Birmingham Municipal Council Planning Committee unanimously approved the plans on Thursday.
The Warickshire County Cricket Club, who plays his home matches at the stadium, said work is expected to start in September and be completed in time for the ash’s men test against Australia in 2027.
The club said it expected 60,000 people to stay at the hotel every year, adding £ 5 million to £ 35 million, which the stadium is currently estimated to be contributing to the local economy.
The new stand will include improved facilities for spectators with disabilities.
Edgbaston Strategy Director Craig Flindal said: “Cricket will always remain at the heart of our thinking. But it is important to develop a stadium that works throughout the year, supporting new jobs in this part of the city and creating wider opportunities for the community. “
The project is partially funded with a loan of £ 18 million from West Midlands Combined Authority.
Mayor Richard Parker said the reconstruction would guarantee the future of world -class crickets in the region.
“Our region is home to a number of world -renowned sports teams and places,” he said.
“By supporting them to grow, we take our place on the international stage, bring visitors, investments and jobs now and in the future.”
