The Durham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting Saturday night at a popular fast-food chain.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the Cook Out in the 1500 block of S. Miami Boulevard, east of downtown Durham County.
One person was found dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
“The investigation is in its early stages,” the statement said. “Further information will be provided when appropriate.”
About 90 minutes earlier, just five miles away, four people were shot and three were hospitalized after reports of gunfire at 231 Eagle Campus Dr. at NC Central’s campus in Durham, ABC11, a media partner of The News & Observer, reported.
In a separate incident on campus, a person was taken into custody after reports of shots fired in the parking lot of Debra Saunders-White Residence Hall at 2103 Fayetteville St., police said. The two shootings on NC Central’s campus happened during homecoming festivities.
