Durham Regional Police – Oshawa man faces charges after pointing laser at police helicopter (name released) – Today’s Northumberland

A man is facing charges after repeatedly pointing a laser at the DRPS Air1 helicopter while it was flying in Oshawa.

On Friday, October 25, 2024, at approximately 11:05 p.m., members of the Central West Division responded to the area of ​​Deer Valley Drive and Snowbird Street after Air1 was struck multiple times by a green laser, creating an immediate and serious safety risk from endangering the lives of those on board. The origin of the laser was traced to three men who were observed walking along the roadway. Officers, with the assistance of a K9 unit, located the men and took the suspect into custody. The laser pointer was a short distance away.

Arsh SHARMA, 27, of Oshawa is charged with: mischief endangering life x2, drunk in public and failure to appear.

He is released on bail.
