Dundonald Gym members to undertake a 24 -hour workout for the hospital ward – Irvine Times

The members of the Basic Staff at the Olympic Business Park will embark on the challenge of durability on March 14th.

They will raise money in support of the Seiecalion Department of the Children’s Hospital in Glasgow.

The organizer and fitness owner Brian Milligan decided to take the challenge after his partner’s daughter Aria was diagnosed with a rare Hodgkin lymphoma.

10-year-old Aria suffered from anaplastic large cell lymphoma as she was eight years old and received vital care in the Glasgow ward.

Brian said, “As we noticed a large swollen gland on Aria’s neck on vacation in Turkey, she was good and rarely got sick.

“Then Aria’s journey into the terrible world of childhood cancer began, her childhood was detached from her, and she began her exhausting treatment for chemotherapy in the Seyahalion ward.

“The staff within the stationary and outpatient wards of Schiehallion is coming out of their way to take care of the children and their parents.

“While Aria was stationary, she received incredible care from nurses, doctors and players, not to mention the incredible charity organizations that provide toys, games, care packs, holiday gifts, sweets and treats and more.

“These wonderful gifts during Aria’s weeks at the hospital really helped to smile at her face.”

He said: “We know that this will not take away from the pain they encounter on a daily basis, however, we want to make their day a little more light.

“This challenge is not just about physical endurance; but to gather together, to have a significant impact in the lives of the children who most need our help.”

Brian and four others will exercise for the full 24 hours, with up to 35 others descending and going out of the day challenge.

He added: “Participation will be the most fitness people, but also friends and family who get involved.

“Every hour begins a new workout, some will be easier than others, but we will always move.

“We have set a goal of £ 3,000 and we are already 600 pounds, so it was a great start to raising funds.

“Aria recovered and called the bell, and the ward was a big part of it, so we’re desperate to go back.”
