The Duke Blue Devils will host the SMU Mustangs on Saturday (8 p.m., ACC Network) at Wallace Wade Stadium in Week 9 of the college football season.
The Blue Devils (6-1, 2-1 ACC) are coming off their first win against Florida State in program history. Duke now faces its No. 1 ranked opponent under first-year coach Manny Diaz. The 22nd-ranked Mustangs (6-1, 3-0) are 0-2 in the all-time series against Duke, but the programs haven’t played since the 1950s.
One of three new schools in the ACC, SMU is one of four undefeated teams in the league. Devils are 15-2 in their last 17 games in Durham.

Duke linebacker Tre Freeman intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter for the Blue Devils’ fourth score, putting Duke in prime position to take the lead.
Duke running back Starr Thomas scored on a 1-yard run and Eli Pankol converted two scores to tie the Blue Devils with SMU at 21 with 9:02 left.

Duke wide receiver Jordan Moore hauled in a one-handed 12-yard touchdown pass to pull the Blue Devils to within 21-13 late in the third quarter. Todd Pelino missed the extra point attempt.
SMU wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. caught a pass from Kevin Jennings and took it 81 yards for a touchdown to extend the Mustangs’ lead. Duke trailed 21-7 with just under five minutes left in the third quarter.

SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings fumbled his way to the goal line but recovered it in the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown to give the Mustangs their first lead. Duke trails 14-7.
On fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line, SMU running back Brassard Smith maneuvered around several Duke defenders to get into the end zone. The Mustangs and Blue Devils are tied at 7 with 13:15 left in the second quarter.

Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy connected with wide receiver Ke’Sean Brown for a 43-yard touchdown as the Blue Devils took a 7-0 lead with 2:38 left in the first quarter.
